Admissions

Dear Prospective Parents, St Joseph's is a Catholic School to be proud of. We endeavour to promote the values of Christian faith throughout our daily life. Pupils receive a broad and balanced curriculum. We constantly review and evaluate the achievements of the school.  St Joseph's strives to achieve a good partnership between Governors, Staff, Parents and the Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption. We firmly believe that everyone can develop their talents and it is important to recognise success in all forms.St Joseph's has developed an excellent reputation based on the quality of education provided and its distinctive Catholic nature. We provide a loving and caring community.

 

Our latest Ofsted inspection in May 2009, recognised the school to be 'outstanding'. 

 

Inspectors from the Diocese also inspected the school in January 2020.  They judged it to be 'outstanding'.

Please note if an application is incomplete and we are lacking necessary information this will hold up the process of admissions.

Please Note:

The suspension of the obligation to attend Sunday Mass was announced on 18th March 2020 by the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As of the 5th June 2022, Pentecost, the Bishops of England and Wales reinstated the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days. Parents applying for a place under a faith-based criteria will need to complete a Supplementary Information Form. Evidence of practice will be measured by frequency of attendance at Mass as validated by either a priest or minister, as was the case prior to 18th March 2020. These arrangements apply to the admissions round for 2023 and subsequent rounds.

Appeals

If your child is due to start Primary school in September 2023, you can appeal if you are refused a place at one of your preferred schools on National Offer Day (Monday, 17 April 2023).

You needed to submit your appeal before Tuesday 16 May  2023 for it to be considered by Thursday 18 July 2023. Any appeals received after this time will be heard within 40 school days from the deadline, or where reasonably possible in line with updated guidance from the Department for Education.

 

For late applications, appeals should be heard within 40 school days from the deadline for lodging appeals where possible, or within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged where reasonably possible in line with updated guidance from the Department for Education
