Our Catholic Life
Prayer and Liturgy at St Joseph’s
Prayer and Liturgy are woven into the daily life of our school throughout the academic year. They are central to our ethos, shaping our aims and relationships, and reflecting the Catholic values that underpin every aspect of school life.
At St Joseph’s, we see Prayer and Liturgy as a way to deepen our connection with God—both as individuals and as a school family. We believe that every pupil, regardless of age, ability, or faith background, can actively participate in the prayer life of the school. This includes class-based prayer and liturgy, reflection times, Gospel celebrations, Liturgies, and Masses.
Pupils are supported in developing their prayer life through the explicit teaching of traditional Catholic prayers and responses, both spoken and sung. Celebrations of the Word led by the Headteacher and class teachers revisit the importance of engaging hearts, voices, bodies, and minds in worship. These experiences help embed liturgical norms and practices.
Daily classroom prayers, class Celebrations of the Word, and Pupil led Liturgy further consolidate this spiritual foundation, nurturing a vibrant and inclusive prayer culture across the school.

The Mark 10 Mission
The Mark 10 Mission, in partnership with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, is a brand-new project for Catholic primary schools in England. Each week they provide a video about the Sunday Gospel. Each session includes an introduction, the reading of the Gospel, a reflection and a song.
