History

Introduction

Our learning of History at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School is achieved and embedded as part of our ‘Creative Curriculum’: a creative and stimulating approach which enables the children to have varied opportunities to be ‘Historians’. Our curriculum is rich in vocabulary and allows children the opportunity to learn about the history of themselves, their local area, as well as history around the world. Children communicate, collaborate, think critically and have the opportunity to express their learning creatively.

We intend to inspire pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past and for our teaching to equip our children with the ability to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement. History helps us to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups.
